Who We Are
AME is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization with a Board of Directors composed of a representative from each of our members from seven countries (Belize, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Southern Mexico, United States).
What We Believe
AME members constitute a partnership of non-profit conservation organizations, private sector tour operators, educational organization, community organizations, and individuals that are working collaboratively to create a region that will provide high-quality sustainable tourism experiences, protect the natural and cultural attributes of the region, and create healthy and resilient communities.
We work collaboratively to create a region that will provide high-quality sustainable tourism experiences, protect natural & cultural attributes, and create healthy, resilient communities.
How We Work
While our core area of expertise is developing sustainable tourism platforms, we have adopted a more holistic, integrated approach to include complementary activities such as organic agriculture and sustainable forestry.
The goal of AME is to directly link tourism development to sustainable and resilient communities through improving competitiveness, safety, market access, and profitability of sustainable tourism ventures in Mesoamerica. Achievement of this goal will ultimately reduce threats, effectively manage visitor impacts, and create financial benefits and management capacity for protected areas in Mesoamerica.
